User Guide Get started
Quick start
Build your first space, database and view in about 15 minutes.
In this tutorial you build a small Projects space with a Tasks database, add a few fields and records, and look at them as a table and as a board.
1. Create your account and organization
- Go to covanode.app and sign up.
- Name your organization. This is the name your team sees; you can change it later.
- Choose your first space. Pick a template to get a ready-made structure, or choose Start blank.
- Invite your team. Add colleagues by email. People who already have an account are added immediately; others receive a pending invite. You can also Skip for now and invite them later.
2. Create a space
If you skipped the template, create a space from the sidebar: choose Create a new Space, give it a name such as Projects, and select Start blank.
Tip
From template gives you databases and views that already work together. Describe with AI lets you write what you need in a sentence and preview the space before it is created.
3. Add a database
- Open the space's Overview.
- Under Databases, choose New Database.
- Name it Tasks and create it.
The new database opens in a table with a Name column. Each row is a record.
4. Add fields
- In the database toolbar, open Fields.
- Choose New field and pick a type. For this tutorial add:
- Workflow — call it Status, with steps such as Not started, In progress and Done.
- People — call it Assignee.
- Date — call it Due date.
- Use the switches in the Fields panel to show or hide fields in the current view.
Read more in Fields.
5. Add records
- Choose New Record in the toolbar, or click New record under the last row.
- Type the title, then fill in the other cells directly in the table.
- Click a record's title to open it. The record panel shows every field, plus comments, attached files and linked documents.
Add three or four tasks with different statuses and due dates.
6. Add a second view
- Next to the view tabs, choose Add view.
- Pick Board as the view type and give it a name, then choose Create view.
- Your tasks now appear as cards grouped by Status. Drag a card to another column to change its status.
Try a Calendar or Gantt view too — they place records on their dates. See Views.
7. Find, filter and sort
- Use the search box above the table to find records by text.
- Filter shows only records that match conditions, such as Status is not Done.
- Sort orders records by any field.
- AI filter lets you describe filters and sorting in plain words, such as status is in progress, sort by due date.
What's next
- Link databases together with a Relation field — for example Projects and Tasks.
- Write meeting notes in a Document and link them to records.
- Invite the rest of your team and give each person the right role. See Core concepts.
